Goodies and an FO

Goodies seem to be coming in left and right here. Ok, maybe that's a tad over exaggerated.

My order of Malabrigo from Woolgirl

This is going to become a hat, scarf, and maybe some fingerless mitts....for me of course. Jen has some great stuff....go check it out, buy yarn, go now. OK....had to throw in a little enabling there! Did I mention she has Malabrigo lace.....yum! I also joined The Seven Deadly S(p)ins yarn club to top it all off. I linked to Jen's blog entry if anyone is interested the info is there.

I also ordered a few books: Best of Interweave Knits, The Yarn Girls Guide to Knits for Older Kids, and two books that are knits for girls and their dolls.

My book club was doing the buy 2 books get a 3rd free plus free shipping. The two doll/girl sweater books were a package deal. Now hows a girl suppose to pass that up?

I also finished Bree's Kimono Jacket.

It's a tad long in the arms but other then that it fits great. I'm not sure if I like the ties. I may pick up some snaps to sew on and then stick some buttons over them for decoration. I'll have to see what I can dig up while I'm at Michaels.

I got the new Interweave Knits, Winter 2007 issue and I'm not overly thrilled over most of the projects. Maybe that's because I was totally blown away with the Holiday issue....I don't think there were many who weren't. In the Winter issue, I like the Tilting Cable socks, Henley Perfected, and Redefined Aran Jacket. I'm going to have to let it marinate to see if I like any of the others.

I'm hoping to score some Patons Classic Wool tomorrow at Michaels. It's suppose to be on sale 2 for $7 which makes it affordable for me to make either the Central Park Hoodie or Twisted. I'm really leaning towards Twisted. Both sweaters take about the same amount of yarn so I'm just going to buy 9 or 10 balls and go from there. So wish me luck on finding enough yarn with the same dye lot in a color I like.

Finally I Can Link

It's been driving me absolutely batty not being able to link the new Creative Knitting Mag.  Well I just noticed that the new magazine is loaded.  So here we go.  You can go here to see all the patterns in the Sept 07 magazine.

The Cables and Lace Jacket is first up for me.  I think the stripey thing going on is cool but it would drive me bonkers knitting it because I would want everything to match stripe wise so I'm going for a solid in Andean Silk, color: Chocolate.  This will help save my sanity!  I thought about doing the jacket in WotA or Swish since they are a bit cheaper but I think I'm going to splurge and use the Andean Silk. I'll be able to wear this with pretty much anything.

I also want to make this and this for myself.  I also thought these were cute.

Why am I writing this at 1:40am in the morning you may ask.  Well that would be because Bree decided to wake up around midnight in preparation of her b-day.  Bout 2 hours to go and she'll officially 1 year old.  :~)
Where in the world does the time go?

Here's a some what decent shot of Bree in her new red dress.

Dscn1269

I haven't managed to get a better one of her yet.  I can't wait to get a shot of Kaity in her new skirt.  I only have about 80 some odd rows to go.  Thankfully they go fast.

Wouldn't you know it.  Knit Picks is out of stock of the damn 32" 2.75mm circ that I need.  *cussing* *more cussing* *extremely loud cussing*  Feel free to add your own words in between the * *.  Guess I'll be buying a needle somewhere else.  I'm not waiting until Aug 15th for the damn things to come back in stock.  I really need it now but have to wait till payday.  I swear this tank top of my sisters has been plagues with needle issues.  Well the good news is by the time this is all over with I will have every friggin' needle size and length on the market.   :~)
So the Ribs and Lace Tank is on 32" circ right now but that is pushing it as far as cable length goes.  I don't think it's going to work once the ribbing starts pulling in so it's just sitting in it's bag collecting dust.

Any one have a 24" circular US2/2.75mm needle I can borrow?  Just Kidding!    :~)

An FO, A Magazine & A Late Night

I have an FO to report and I just glanced at the title of this post again and it sounds like the start of a bad joke.  :~)
Against all odds I finished Bree's dress last night.  One corner of the dress looks like crap so I need to go back and fix it.

Bree woke up again last night but Shawn entertained her for a bit so I could knit.  I tried the dress on her this morning but she's a tad on the crabby side so no cute baby pics today.  I'll try to get a pic of her in the dress here in the next few days.
I used the Knitting Pure and Simple pattern #266, Little Girl Sundress or Jumper.  I love their patterns.  Simple, easy to use, well written, and easy to customize for a perfect fit.  I have several more of their patterns.  I have hooded sweater patterns for both girls and the mens Henley pattern for Shawn.

My Sept issue of Creative Knitting came in.  There wasn't any thing great for kids in this one but there are two jackets that I'd like to make for myself.  The first one is called Cables and Lace Jacket.  It's made using worsted weight yarn.  The other one is called Trailblazer Jacket and is made out of bulky weight yarn. There is also a dishcloth pattern in their that has a big cable that runs down the center.

Sorry I can't link to pics Creative Knitting hasn't put the Sept issue on their website yet.  They are still showing July.  All in all I think I've gotten my moneys worth out of the subscription.  I renewed for another year.  I can always find at least one thing, besides the dishcloth pattern, that I'd knit out the mag.  I'll be keeping my Interweave Knits subscription too.  Some much stuff to knit not enough time or money to knit it all.   :~)

Wonderful Goodies

I got some great goodies in the mail today.  It's enough to bright my day.  You know what, 29 doesn't feel any different then 28....lol.  Yup you guessed it, today is my b-day.

Goodies all wrapped and pretty:

I won this yarn from a guessing contest on Jennie's blog.  I guessed 7 out of 10 sock yarn types correctly.....who has a sock yarn problem, oh no not me!   :~)   I picked Fleece Artist for my winnings.  Jennie sent the Trekking 100 because the last contest I won on her blog she sent me Trekking 110 instead of the 100.  Which was no biggie to me!     :~)  Thanks Jennie, that was sooo cool of you to send me the Trekking 100.  It will be put to good use.

I also got the June 2007 copy of Knit N' Style.  I decided to try it so they sent me a free issue and then I can subscribe if I want too....I think I'll subscribe.  There are a few patterns I could use.  There is Mary's Camisole that I think my sis would like....pg. 37 for you all who have the mag.  I like the pullover (it's the blue pullover on the site) on pg. 39, the pocket baby cardi/pullover on pg 58, and a super cute dress called viva la violet for little girls on pg. 60.  So all in all I'd say the mag was worth the purchase price, which of course is cheaper if you have a subscription.  :~)

New Interweave Knits

The mailman was kind enough to bring me my Summer 07 issue of Interweave Knits today.  I'll probably never make most of the things in this issue but there are a few that I like.  They also have a nice article on toe up socks with pattern that was pretty good.  Here's the links....Here and Here....if you want to check out any of the patterns I'm talking about....for those who don't have the issue.
I liked the Notre-Dame De Grace pullover.  I think it would be a great for lounging around in....Nice, comfy, warm, though I'd make the body just a tad longer.  I hate short sweaters.
The Lutea Lace-Shoulder Shell is cute too.  It's a simple enough design that I would wear it.
The there is the Wheat-Ear Cable Yoke, which I like and would wear if I would drop about 40lbs.....motivation for losing weight.  :~)
The Origami Cardi isn't to bad but I'm not sure if it's my style.  I'll have to let that one marinate in my mind for awhile.
Oh and we must not forget the Spiral Boot Socks.  You can never have enough sock patterns plus these are pretty cute.  :~)

Well I'm off to go knit on something.....probably socks and dishcloths.
