A Little Progress

It's been a little busy here. I've made some progress on my projects and made a couple of stash enhancements. I also finished my sample knits for Woolgirl. I'll show you them when I can.

First up, the first purchase from TLE.

Dsc04363

I bought this a few days before the Wollmeise sneak up. I didn't really think I'd get any Wollmeise so this was my consolation order. I've been wanting some of the Trekking Hand Art and Heather of All Things Heather is dying yarn again and I couldn't pass up the gorgeous Apricot colorway.

Now the Wollmeise sneak up which was the last one I'm ever going to participate in. They are just too intense and way too crazy. It sold out in a record breaking 5 minutes this time. I have 3 skeins....I'm happy!

I bought Campari Orange (skein in front) and Wilder Mohn (skein in back). Both are extremely gorgeous. I also picked up the Loopy Lace toe up sock pattern. I really like Wendy's patterns and will probably pick up more now that I've figured out how to knit toe up socks. I bought some BRS Bergamot Mint Knitters Hand Soap which smells great, leaves my hands smooth and doesn't dry them out. I have a problem with soap drying my hands out and causing red rashes....very painful! I'll be buying more of this soap soon.

Now on to the knitting. The drool fest is over for now, I promise!

I finished Kaity's toe up sock.

Dsc04380

I found a short row heel technique that I like. It's the Next Step Diagonal short row heel from the Sock Wizard program. They' make the software for Macs and PCs. I finished off the sock with a k3, p2 ribbed cuff and did a cute little picot bind off. Now I need to cast on the second sock.

Last night I finished the first Reims Stocking watching Are We Done Yet?...cute and funny movie!

Dsc04382

I cut out 10sts and knit the cuff a little shorter. I really like this pattern and will more then likely use this one again.

And for my final knit project, I give you a Bear in many pieces.

Dsc04386

I just finished knitting all the pieces for Bree's Bear. I'm planning on seaming and stuffing it this afternoon while she is taking a nap.

Now it's time to put my wee monkey down for a nap and attack laundry mountain. Yup, it's that time again. There's only a few loads today because I scaled part of the mountain yesterday.

Happy Crafting! I think that should encompass everyone, knitters, crocheters, quilters, etc. You all will probably see more then yarn on the blog soon. It's time to dig out the sewing machine. It's been neglected for too long.

I'm going to start working on some pjs for Kaity, plus I have a small quilt to finish and a blankie to make for Bree. This will be the first time making clothing so there might be a bit of cursing. I promise not to throw the scissors....that's dangerous!

Score One For Me

Score one for the knitter.  Ah life is good.  We went clothes shopping yesterday since Shawn got off work early.  Old Navy was having a sale on a lot of their clothing so we managed to snag several outfits for all 4 of us for less then $300.

Then to make things even better I found the Lion Brand Wool-ease Thick and Quick on clearance at Wally world for $4 a ball.  They had 10 balls all in the same dye lot so I snagged them.  I'm using the color Cranberry.  I'll post pics when the highspeed comes up again.  Hopefully that will be Monday but I'm not holding my breath.

I also got some more needles from Knit Picks and used a gift certificate to pick up from Amazon.com: More Sensational Knitted Socks and Last Minute Knitted Gifts.  All I need to do is order the yarn for my cousins blanket but first I need to decide on a yarn.  I did find one at Webs by Reynolds called Kids Collection Wash Day Wool.  I'm not sure about the wear-ability though.  It's $6.50 for 176 yds making the cost less then $40.  Not to bad.  Though I may go see what the LYS has.  I may find something there too.

Now the bad news which made me cringe and yell a few choice obscenities.  When it comes to my yarn the cussing may come out.  The building that holds the post office in Mtn Home had a section of the roof collapse.  It's a big building with several other military offices in it.  It use to be where the Commissary (military grocery store) was so it's a fair size building.  Now my mail was being held and we had just put in a forward but we aren't sure if they sent our mail out before the roof collapsed.  I have an order from TLE and my yarn I bought from eBay there.

From what we gather, the roof collapsed in the center of the building but not over the post office.  Everyone was evacuated out safely but they haven't been cleared to go back in and probably won't be.  Any mail coming in to my old address now will forward fine because the post office has set up shop elsewhere on base.

Shawn just left to run some errands so here's hoping our stuff made it out fine and is already here on base.  We did find something interesting out.  Even though we live on base our address is going to be Great Falls, MT instead of Malmstrom AFB, MT.  That is going to be so weird to write.

Well I'm outta here for now.  I need to swap the laundry and get the dishes done.  I have a mega laundry mountain today between the dirty clothes and all the new clothes that need to be washed.

Wrister & Socks

Last night actually finished the first wrister and cast on for the second one.  I put a few rows on the second wrister and then swapped over to my CTH socks.  My goal was to get the wrister finished and get the heel flap finished on the second sock.  I came so close to that goal.  I've got about 6 rows left on the heel flap.  :~)   I'll finish up the heel flap, turn, and get the gusset started this afternoon.

Now that I know the basic concept of how to make fingerless mitts later this year I'm going to work on some using some of my Cider Moon yarn.  I'll just wing it and make up my own pattern as I go.  With good enough notes I'll be able to make a second one that looks the same as the first.  The Cider Moon Glacier will make some fab warm mitts for this winter.  :~)

I'm reserving Monday afternoon to work on my moms gift.  I need concentration and quiet which is something I don't get on the weekends when everyone is home all day long.  :~)
If all goes well I'll have another FO to report on here by next weekend....maybe more then one.  :~)

Monday Monday

Some extra sleep did help out a bit.  I'm still a little achy and run down but it's not as bad as yesterday so I can live with it.  :~)
Today is laundry but other then that I'm pretty much going to relax.  In between loads I'll probably sit back and relax while knitting and catching some TV time.  Dinners easy tonight....Grilled Chicken so that's Shawn's department unless the weather gets too nasty to grill out.
Last night I worked on my moms b-day gift.....woohoo I got another 5% done.  About another 25% to go and I can send it off to my mom.  :~)

Note to self: Call sister and pester her.  Haven't talked to her in a few days so it's time to call.  :~)
